HISTORICAL INFORMATION

THE 43rd. ANNUAL A.C.T. / UCT CURLING BONSPIEL.

One curling team from the Timmins A.C.T. / UCT Club
ventured to the All Ontario Bonspiel held in Ottawa
on the weekend of January 18-20, 2001
The team composed of
Skip Joe Gubbels,
Vice Skip Dan Duquette,
Second Gord Warner
Lead Moe Doiron
captured the "C" Event Trophy
which is named in memory of Moe Patton.
Curling was held at the Rideau Curling Club
and the Ottawa Curling Club.
After a tie-game against the eventual "A" winner, Brian Bilodeau,
the team suffered a last end loss against another team from Sudbury, skipped by Dave Carnes.
The third game was a real barn-burner, with the game tied after five ends, the Timmins skip had to draw to the four foot circle to win the game.
On Saturday, the semi-final game was held at 9:30 a.m. with the finals in all events at 2:30 p.m.
The Timmins team won both games handily to become the winner of the "C" Event.
18 teams participated from all of Ontario.
Next year's Bonspiel will be held at the Orilia Curling Club.

on the weekend of January 17-19, 2002
The team composed of

captured the "D" Event Trophy
Curling was held at the Orillia Curling Club
After a terrible start in the qualifying round on Friday,
the team came back to win the three games on Saturday.
18 teams participated from all of Ontario.
Next year's Bonspiel will be held at the North Bay Granite Club.
